How can I dispose of the bags?2023-05-07T00:15:57+02:00

Optimally: in your own compost! Within 180 days, the bags decompose completely.

If you don’t have compost, you can also dispose of them in the trash. Here you can see what happens to your bag:

  • In the organic waste garbage can, the bag is composted if it is correctly identified by the disposal company. If not, it is burned or goes to a landfill.
  • In the recycling garbage can, the bag is sorted out and incinerated.
  • The bag is also incinerated in the residual waste.
  • In nature, the bag is composted and a source of food for organisms. Important: Please do not dispose of bags in the environment!
What are the cans made of?2023-05-07T00:15:33+02:00

The cans are made exclusively of tinplate and grass paper labels. Compared to normal paper made from virgin fibers, grass paper saves 99% water and 95% CO₂ in production.

What does True Tea do for sustainability?2022-01-28T22:31:13+01:00

As you have probably noticed, sustainability is important to us. We think environmental protection should not be an extra, but standard. That is why we offer only environmentally friendly and plastic-free packaging. At no extra charge and without you having to do anything.

Shipping is also plastic free, we use paper/cardboard packaging material and corn starch packaging chips. In addition, the shipment comes to you climate neutral.

Our tea is available in either cans or bags. The cans are made of recyclable tinplate, and the bags are made of paper/cellulose and starch. The bags are easily garden compostable and of course plastic-free.

Last but not least, our website servers are 100% powered by green electricity. If you want to learn more about what we’re doing for the environment, check it out here.

Is True Tea safe?2022-01-28T22:36:21+01:00

Yes. The connection between you and our website is encrypted end-to-end. You can check this at any time by looking at the lock icon in your browser bar.

We do not share data without your consent. We earn our money by selling you great products around tea – not with your data. Ordering from us is possible with minimal data usage and without an account.

How will my order be shipped?2022-04-26T13:06:36+02:00

We use the market leader DHL for shipping larger packages. We send smaller shipments cost-efficiently with Deutsche Post. When shipping with the German Post, we can unfortunately not provide you with tracking.

Whether by DHL or Deutsche Post: Shipping is guaranteed to be climate neutral.

Can I infuse the teas more than once?2022-03-19T20:43:15+01:00

With many teas, this works. Exceptions are herbal and fruit teas. We show you within the description on the respective product page with the multiple infusion symbol indicates that this tea is suitable.

Generally, the more often you infuse a tea, the longer you should let the infusion steep.

For green and black teas, 3-4 infusions are usually very good. If additives such as jasmine flowers are in the tea, certain flavor nuances may be lost.

Is sustainable packaging more expensive?2023-05-07T00:17:52+02:00

Yes, unfortunately that is the case. To put a concrete figure on it, our sustainable, compostable and plastic-free bags cost about ten times as much to purchase as the plastic bag most competitors use. The same applies, of course, to the other packaging material: from cartons, filling material to banderoles and labels.

Our vision is to package tea sustainably for all – only together can we make a difference. This is not achieved with eco-surcharges to optimize profit margins. Therefore, we try to absorb these high costs as much as possible or compensate them in other places (for example, the low-cost shipping via Deutsche Post).

How will the goods be shipped?2022-01-28T22:38:41+01:00

We exclusively use the climate-neutral shipping service of DHL for shipping.

What is the best way to store tea?2023-05-07T00:19:46+02:00

Tea should be stored airtight in a cool, dry place protected from the sun. Tea quickly takes on foreign odors – so always remember to seal your bag or Tin properly. Of course, this also applies to matcha.

Very important: Do not store flavored teas next to non-flavored ones. If your precious green tea Gyokuru is next to our Ibiza, it may taste like mango.

Where does the tea come from?2021-12-26T01:12:57+01:00

The components of the blends as well as the teas themselves come from different countries. Regular on-site visits of our pre-supplier as well as the long-standing cooperation with plantations allow highest quality standards and ensure highest quality as well as environmentally and socially compatible cultivation. Of course, quality is also regularly checked in laboratory tests and by on-site audits. After all, trust is good, but control is better!
