How do I prepare the tea optimally?
FAQ-Beitrag
It all depends on the variety. Therefore, you can find the info you need on the product page and the products themselves.
However, here are some basic tips:
The water should always be fresh. Optimally, the water has been filtered – but of course this is not a must. For temperatures, you can use the following table as a guide:
Type | Water temperature |
---|---|
Black tea | 100° |
Green tea and white tea | 70° |
Herbal, fruit and rooibos tea | 100° |
Oolong | 85°C-95°C |
Herbal, fruit and rooibos teas should steep for about 8 minutes, while for green and white teas and oolong, the brewing time may be reduced to about 2-5 minutes.
Tip: To influence the taste ideally for you, you can turn two screws. This is, on the one hand, the amount of tea you use for the infusion and, on the other hand, the infusion time. The more tea and the longer it brews, the more intense the flavor. However, you cannot extend the infusion time indefinitely, as green and black teas in particular will otherwise become bitter. Just take our preparation instructions for the individual items as a starting point to meet your taste better and better, bit by bit with small changes. Good luck!
With many teas, this works. Exceptions are herbal and fruit teas. We show you within the description on the respective product page with the multiple infusion symbol indicates that this tea is suitable.
Generally, the more often you infuse a tea, the longer you should let the infusion steep.
For green and black teas, 3-4 infusions are usually very good. If additives such as jasmine flowers are in the tea, certain flavor nuances may be lost.
For some articles you will find a note that the packaging contains a certain amount of plastic. We want to be absolutely honest and have therefore added this clear note:
But what is it all about? First of all, this plastic packaging does not come from us. True Tea will never add its own plastic packaging. If you see this notice, it means that the packaging from our supplier contains plastic.
This can be for various reasons, for example to protect the surface of the product or to prevent breakage. We are in constant contact with our suppliers in order to constantly reduce the proportion of plastic or even replace it completely with alternative materials.
We draw your attention to this fact with the notice shown above. We hope that this information will help you with your product selection.
Yes, you can. We offer you free exchange/return 14 days after receiving the goods. Just contact us by mail.
The cans are made of 100% paper and do not contain any plastic. Thus, they are easily recyclable. The core of the sleeve is made of 100% recycled paper. This again significantly reduces the ecological footprint.
If you want to return items, just send us an email and we will take care of it right away.
Good question! We firmly believe in the credo: Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
Therefore, we currently offer two packages:
Cardboard cans
The chic tins are handmade and are made of cardboard. The core of the sleeve is made of recycled paper. After use, you can refill them or simply dispose of them in the paper trash. The cans are of course food safe and plastic free.
The cans are made of only one material (paper). Thus, recycling is particularly easy. The use of already recycled paper in the cans also reduces the environmental footprint. A round thing, we think.
Reclosable bags
We rely on garden compostable and 100% plastic-free bags. And they are honestly good! These high quality bags are made in the EU and become compost after 180 days. This has also been confirmed by the TÜV. And the bags are also practical to reseal. The bags are made of cellulose, paper and starch.
We fill our shipping boxes only with paper material or floppies made of corn starch. Both can be recycled and are 100% plastic free.
And what about our tea accessories? Well, here, unfortunately, possibly (recyclable) plastic is used in the packaging, so that these arrive safely at your home. Unfortunately, this cannot be done any other way at present. As part of our transparency, we show you exactly how each item is packaged on the product pages.
We pay attention to sustainability in all steps and especially the elimination of plastic wherever possible. Not everywhere we have reached where we would like to go. But be sure: we will continue to do our best to further improve the packaging materials.
We use the market leader DHL for shipping larger packages. We send smaller shipments cost-efficiently with Deutsche Post. When shipping with the German Post, we can unfortunately not provide you with tracking.
Whether by DHL or Deutsche Post: Shipping is guaranteed to be climate neutral.
Our refill bags always hold at least twice the filling quantity of a Tin. So you can conveniently refill them. The bags are garden compostable and plastic-free. On the compost they become food for microorganisms. A clean sweep, from start to finish, that is.
When stored appropriately (cool, dry, away from sun & away from odorous substances), flavored teas have a shelf life of 18 months. Teas without flavoring can still be enjoyed after 24 months.
Tea is a dry and shelf-stable food that is often edible well after the best-before date. Look at the tea, smell and taste it before you throw it away. However, the longer tea is stored, the weaker the aroma becomes. Teas without flavoring may react with the surrounding air and change your taste.
From 29,90€ we take over the shipping costs for you. For a purchase value below 29,90€ we charge a shipping fee of 4,99€.
The flat shipping rate helps cover costs for transportation and packaging. Our sustainable packaging is unfortunately relatively expensive, yet we also want to offer you the flexibility of low order quantities. We think we have found a good compromise here.
